Smaller Stores Feature Interactive Layout, Reduced Product Selection
Circuit City Stores Inc., is taking a new approach to concept stores this holiday season with the debut of The City, a smaller store design built around an interactive experience for consumers and a smaller, but higher-end electronics selection.
The City stores are open in now in Norfolk, Va., and the company has said that it is planning a remodel of its headquarters in Richmond before the end of the year. The redesign and new store concept are part of a growth strategy that will bring 60 to 65 new stores domestically through the end of 2008. While the company said it is pleased with the initial consumer response to The City design, it did not reveal how many of the planned stores will be a part of the new concept.
