ZVOX, a pioneer in the concept of single-cabinet home theater systems, has announced the unveiling of a limited edition home theater system created in memoriam to Linda Latham, a woman who helped pioneer market-based energy efficient electronics while working with the Energy Star division of the EPA and the Dept. of Energy. Ms. Latham passed away after battling breast cancer in September of 2011. $150 will be contributed to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (bcrfcure.org) for every Linda Latham Limited Edition ZVOX 555 sold.
"Linda was relentless in pushing us toward making more energy efficient designs," said ZVOX CEO and founder Tom Hannaher. "Her concern and advice helped us design home theater systems that set new standards for reduced power use, especially in standby mode." The Special Edition model is functionally identical to a standard ZVOX 555 – with high-performance speakers, amplifier and subwoofer built into a single low-profile cabinet. The system will sell for $449.99 from the ZVOX web site.
Features of the ZVOX Linda Latham Limited Edition 555 Home Theater System
Incredibly Clear Voices: ZVOX's exclusive Dialog Emphasis feature uses hearing aid technology to make voices unbelievably clear. It's amazing. Voices seem to just "jump into your head."
Tames Loud Commercials: Tired of commercials that blast you out of your chair? The ZVOX Output Leveling feature reacts instantly and turns down loud commercials...and also boosts quiet dialog.
PhaseCue® II Virtual Surround Sound: The 555 uses ZVOX's proprietary PhaseCue II virtual surround processing to provide rich three-dimensional sound with movies or music -- without external speakers and speaker wires.
Uses Your Remote Control: The 555 can be programmed to respond to most remote controls, so a TV remote...or cable box remote...or satellite receiver remote...can control volume, mute, power and input functions on your Z-Base 555.
Multiple Inputs...including front-panel connection for iPod® and other portable devices: The 555 offers two analog audio inputs, one optical (toslink) digital input, one coaxial digital input - plus a front panel 3.5mm analog stereo input for convenient connection of an iPod or other portable audio device. Just plug in your iPod and the system automatically switches to iPod sound. Unplug it and the 555 automatically switches back to TV sound. Any input can be selected using either the remote control or the controls below the speaker grille.
Great Sound: The most important feature for any home theater system is high quality sound. The ZVOX 555 uses premium quality speakers and amplifiers and was designed by the ZVOX team of speaker designers. Their sound quality is comparable to surround sound systems that are much larger, more complicated and more expensive. ZVOX's commitment to quality sound at affordable prices has resulted in Editors' Choice Awards from Sound & Vision, About.com, CNET, Home Theater, E-Gear, PCWorld, Consumers' Digest and Maximum PC.
