Consumer electronics manufacturer Sakar International today announced one of the world's thinnest and lightest full 1080p high-definition camcorders is set to hit store shelves this fall. The debut signals the launch of its new line of high-performance Polaroid-branded digital camcorders, the first in a family of new digital video products to be available this year under an exclusive licensing agreement.
The products will debut in mid-September at select Sears and Kmart stores, and will be available shortly after at Staples, Office Depot, Ritz Camera, BrandsMart USA, Tiger Direct/Comp USA, Canadian Tire, hhgregg, QVC, HSN, BestBuy.com, Walmart.com, Target.com and Newegg.com. The products will also be made available later this year in Europe, India, the Middle East and Brazil.
The debut lineup of Polaroid camcorders includes: The Polaroid iD820, one of the world's thinnest, lightest true 1080p HD camcorders. With an ultra-thin body just ½-inch wide, this extremely lightweight camera packs a 3-inch 16:9 gesture touch screen and 12 megapixel resolution into less than 4 oz. Look for the iD820 on retail shelves in September at a suggested retail price of $179.99.
The Polaroid iD879 featuring 5x optical zoom, making it one of the thinnest, lightest, 1080p HD camcorders with built-in optical zoom. Also featuring a 3-inch gesture touch screen and dual-stream recording, the iD879 includes dual memory card slots—a MicroSD and SD—for double the memory and recording time. This 12 megapixel palm-sized camera will be available in stores in September, complete with carrying case and HDMI cable included for $179.99.
The Polaroid iD450 with built-in Wi-Fi lets you stream live video to the Web via the onboard Ustream app, upload instantly to YouTube, Facebook or other sharing sites, and even view live video on iPad, iPod or Android devices via the downloadable Apple and Android apps available from the AppStore and Android Market. Featuring full 1080p video quality, the iD450 makes it easy to capture and share live action as it happens with just a tap on the 3-inch gesture touch screen. In addition to this first installment of Polaroid-branded camcorders, Sakar will also develop a line of Polaroid-branded digital cameras as part of the exclusive licensing deal. Both product lines will debut in North America and portions of Latin America and Europe this year.
