New platform from Volantis Systems to offer enhanced services for the latest generation of smartphone devices
Volantis Systems has announced the launch of Volantis Framework 5.3, a significant expansion to its Framework platform. This latest release includes a fully featured library of advanced user interface controls, which allow for compelling, Web 2.0 user interfaces to be built on the latest mobile handsets and browsers.
“The mobile industry understands that different customers demand different experiences, and for operators the challenge lies in how they can quickly facilitate and provide the latest experiences across multiple handsets that improve customer loyalty and drive new revenues”
Mobile operators are witnessing unprecedented growth in mobile data services, driven by an increase in the adoption of highly sophisticated smartphones and by a significant growth, in particular, of mobile browsing. In its most recent Mobile Web 2.0 report, Juniper Research* went as far as to predict that market for such services could be worth as much as $22.4bn by 2013, with the Far East, Western Europe and North America driving much of the growth. As more and more users embrace the mobile web, and as the devices that enable the mobile web continue to grow in complexity, the industry will need new approaches for delivering web functionality and next generation user interfaces.
Volantis Framework 5.3 allows operators and developers to build and deploy next-generation portals and browser-based applications with highly customizable, out-of-the-box user interface components. The new release of the company’s core mobile content delivery platform includes a set of programmable controls that can be extended to support the most demanding and compelling user interfaces, while still meeting device portability requirements. Volantis Framework 5.3 supports the latest features included in leading smartphone devices and dramatically improves the mobile consumer experience. Developers looking to offer an improved and compelling experience will also benefit from the ability to quickly roll out new, targeted services across a number of high-end devices. The platform will be available immediately within commercial releases.
"The mobile industry understands that different customers demand different experiences, and for operators the challenge lies in how they can quickly facilitate and provide the latest experiences across multiple handsets that improve customer loyalty and drive new revenues,” said Mark Watson, Chief Executive Officer of Volantis Systems. “Our customers are at the forefront of delivering innovative, feature-rich mobile content and services, but the challenge of leveraging the latest handsets to their full potential to ensure subscribers have access to the latest and most compelling user interfaces across many devices can be considerable. With a strong heritage in providing integrated software platforms that deliver varied, innovative and personalized content, Volantis Framework 5.3 will enable operators and developers to quickly implement highly customizable, Web 2.0 content for subscribers that boasts a smoother, richer user experience.”
