Intellon Corporation, a leading provider of HomePlug®-compatible integrated circuits (ICs) for home networking, networked entertainment, Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) and smart grid applications, announced that Sharp is utilizing Intellon’s advanced HomePlug AV ICs in adapters as a complement to the AQUOS SE94 LCD TV models featuring the AQUOS Net Web-based functionality. Sharp PLC adapters also add flexibility to any networked home, allowing users to connect multiple devices, such as set-top boxes, gaming consoles, PCs and routers over the existing electrical wiring in the home.
The new Sharp PLC adapters are available as single port (HN-VA100U) and 4-port adapters (HN-VA400U). For ultimate convenience, Sharp offers a starter pack that bundles a single port and 4-port adapter into one package (HN-VA401SU) so users can get started right away. With simple two-step installation, Intellon HomePlug networks are far easier to install than alternative networking methods that may require professional installation of in-wall cabling or frustrating set up and enablement of wireless devices that may not offer reliable performance. Consumers can simply connect the AQUOS Net-enabled TV or other home product to a Sharp PLC adapter and plug in the adapter to an existing wall outlet for instant power and connectivity.
“Intellon technology is at the heart of in-home solutions that move video and Internet content throughout homes,” says Rick Furtney, President and COO of Intellon Corporation. “We are excited to provide the powerline connectivity for Sharp’s new HomePlug AV adapters.”
