Scott Ramirez, Vice President of Marketing, Toshiba America Consumer Products details Toshiba’s new TV related line-up. Jodi Sally, Vice President of Marketing, Toshiba America Consumer Products Digital A/V Group, discusses new information on Toshiba’s digital A/V products.
CEDN: Please tell us about your 2008 TV lineup and anything new that will be announced at CEDIA.
SR: We are excited to be announcing four new Toshiba LCD TV series at CEDIA 2008. For the first time ever, we are having a fall transition on most of our TV line-up, with new cosmetic designs and new and exclusive features.
The AV502 series replaces the AV500 720p series with thinner bezel cabinetry, ENERGY STAR qualification and added features. The RV525 Series adds a new price point level for 1080p LCD TVs. The RV535 Series replaces the RV530 1080p series with new double skin cabinetry, AutoView and our new and exclusive SRT super resolution technology. The XV545 series replaces the XV540 series with the new RV535 feature package, plus ColorBurst WCG CCFL and ClearFrame 120 Hz. From 19” through 52”, we have exciting industry-leading LCD TV products for every display application.
CEDN: What differentiates your line from the competition?
SR: The big story for this fall is Toshiba’s new and exclusive SRT super resolution technology. With our PixelPure 14-bit digital video processor, our full HD LCD TVs already make a 1080 video signal look amazing. However, most people don’t watch 1080 signals all the time. SRT now makes 480i/p and 720p signals look much more detailed for a jaw dropping experience regardless of the video content. SRT will enhance video signals from antenna, cable, satellite, DVD, DVR, camcorder, video games and more. It’s clear that retailers and installers are trying to create the best possible home theater experience for their customers. SRT will help ensure that they are happy with all of their content, creating repeat customers and valued recommendations.
CEDN: So Jodi, tell us about the 2008 digital A/V lineup, along with any new products.
JS: We’ve currently enhanced our DVD line-up with the introduction of our new DVD player with XDE technology. Whether a consumer owns thousands, hundreds or only rents DVD movies, Toshiba’s new player will let them experience their DVDs in a whole new way. While XDE offers upconversion from 480p resolution to 1080p like many other players, it goes a step further. Thanks to XDE’s picture enhancement capabilities, XDE delivers a crisper, more vivid picture quality from standard DVDs. [XD-E500, $149.99, available in August 2008.]
In LCD TV/DVD combination models, we’ve expanded our industry leading line-up. The extended model line-up consists of a new 15.6” widescreen LCD model featuring a slim cabinet with a high gloss black bezel [15LV505, $299.99, available in September].
The 19” and 22” models are available in both high gloss black and white. [19LV505, 19LV506, 22LV505 and the new 22LV506, which will be available in August and cost $529.99]. All feature high gloss bezels and slim depth cabinets with convenient slot-loading DVD players.
CEDN: How do you see XDE fitting into the marketplace alongside standard DVD and high definition players?
JS: Overall, Toshiba has always had a priority of getting amazing video experiences into the hands of consumers for prices they’re willing to pay. Toshiba continues this mission with the recent introduction of our new DVD player with XDE technology. Our new 1080p DVD player with extended detail brings a high quality, affordable experience to consumers with the DVDs they love.
