When California-based Thresher Communications & Productivity experienced difficulties installing A/V infrastructure, it turned to Ohio-based Cables To Go™ for a solution. John Nickel, owner of Thresher, found many complete connectivity solutions.
CEDN: What was the biggest challenge your company faced installing A/V infrastructure?
JN: We serve multiple clients with varying cable needs. Often they need products that can be customized and are compatible with different standards, platforms and connectors. They need cables that deliver high quality results while still being cost efficient.
CEDN: What at Cables To Go met this need?
JN: We found RapidRun™, which supports multiple signal types through a single cable. Not to mention a variety of cable and connectivity products.
CEDN: What benefits did your customer find in RapidRun?
JN: The customer appreciated the lower cost and greater reliability with RapidRun. [Thresher] enjoyed staying competitive on the job and keeping our clients’ A/V systems running smoothly.
CEDN: Why was RapidRun so easy to use in installations?
JN: Normally, switching from composite video to high-definition component video would require a new cable. RapidRun only requires a new connector on the end of the cable. With upgrading or changing equipment, users only need to change the cable terminal. With pre-built connectors that screw on, we know there is a reliable connection between cables. And termination is much simpler…we don’t need to carry a lot of tools.
CEDN: Are there other times Cables To Go has helped save the day?
JN: In one instance we were running high-definition video cables at 50 ft. in length. The cables we had been using required a $400 adapter box to boost the signal for any runs exceeding 50 ft. [Cables To Go] had a cable that easily covered the distance the customer needed while maintaining video quality. Since then [Thresher] has gone back and retrofitted previous installations. We are now using the cable in all of our new installations.
CEDN: What else makes Cables To Go products compatible will all types of installations?
JN: We had a client that used video conferencing. He switched from a PC setup to Macs and found a connectivity problem within the mixed environments. The splitters were not correctly connected to the Mac computers and others that were tested failed to work. The splitters from Cables To Go worked in both environments and it automatically detected what type of system was connected to the projector.
CEDN: How did Cables To Go help save you both time and money?
JN: My company acquired quality products from Cables To Go, that saved us money. We probably saved $30 to $40 per cable, including the connectors, as well as 20 to 30 minutes in installation time per cable. Cables To Go is good at listening to customers and incorporating feedback into their products. Whether we are working with global technology companies or a local business, we rely on speed, reliability and efficiency. With Cables To Go, we get all three and save money in the process.
