Microsoft's Windows Mobile OS is set to, "grow by at least 50 percent annually," through 2009, Reuters reports, in a bid to bring the operating system to more than 20 million mobile devices this year.
Reuters attributed the bold projections to Eddie Wu, Microsoft Managing Director for Embedded Devices in Asia. "Fifty percent growth is the minimum," Wu told the news agency earlier this week. In recent months, Microsoft executives have made broad public statements about the future of Windows Mobile, including the promise to bring desktop-grade capabilities, including Web browsing, to the OS, as well as offer expanded features like Flash to bring unfettered online applications to mobile users.
