Pioneer Corp. announced today that it is getting out of the plasma panel production business as part of a larger effort to right its overall financial situation and stop losing money.
"We have judged that maintaining the cost competitiveness of plasma display panels, or PDPs, at projected sales volumes will be difficult going forward," the company said in a statement.
According an AP report, Pioneer is in talks with rival Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., to secure plasma panels from the Panasonic-brand manufacturer.
