Dolby Laboratories, Inc., is acquiring Coding Technologies AB, a privately held provider of audio compression technologies for the mobile, digital broadcast and Internet markets, for a purchase price of approximately $250 million. According to Dolby, the move broadens the company's technology portfolio and expertise for emerging low-bandwidth media applications. The acquisition is expected to close very soon and the closing mechanics are currently in process, Dolby reports.
