EchoStar Buys Sling Media for $380 Million

Dish Network owner EchoStar is forking over nearly $380 million for Sling Media, makers of the Slingbox time/place shifting solution for mobile access to live TV. The deal is expected to close before the end of the fourth quarter.

EchoStar executives say the deal will help to bring Dish Network programming to subscribers in a host of new, mobile ways, while making it possible for viewers to access television on their TVs, computers, mobile phones and other platforms in and outside the home.
