The blogosphere is abuzz with speculation regarding a recent patent filing by Sony Corporation that seems to suggest the CE giant may be moving into new territory, perhaps even looking to compete with the Segway Human Transporter, NewScientist.com reports.
Sony has filed a patent for a motor-powered, balance-steered skateboard that appears to be based on gyroscopic functionality similar to Segway. According to the patent application, "it is possible for the rider to run the vehicle in the front and back direction and to turn the vehicle in the left and right direction by only moving rider's weight."
There's no word from Sony on when or where its rolling with this new skateboard idea.
