As the curtains come down on Day 3 of the PMA Canada show, attendees and exhibitors alike have praised the show and many are already making plans to return next year. According to several exhibitors, foot traffic is nearly double what is was last year, and by accounts the number of exhibitors and their floorspace doubled as well.
Here are a few more of the exciting new products we saw on the show floor:
New "Sport" Movie Cameras from Sanyo
Sanyo brought a handful of unique, ultra-portable Sport video cameras to the show, including the Exacti CA6 and Exacti HD. Both have an incredibly small form factor, rely on SD cards for expandable memory and take strong digital stills in addition to video recording. The CA6's weatherproof design and small form factor make it ideal for outdoor recording in less-than-ideal conditions.
The Exacti HD records video in high definition with up to 10x digital zoom. The unit has a similar digital still camera capability, but ups the ante to more than 5 megapixels in resolution. The Exacti HD also has built-in video editing capabilities and comes bundled with Ulead DVD MovieFactory to turn home movies into HD-ready masterpieces.
SkyScout From Celestron
The SkyScout, which made a huge debut at International CES and has been sold out ever since, is available on the show floor, along with an announcement from Celestron that orders are currently being taken for deliveries in January. The revolutionary handheld device uses GPS technology to enable astronomers to point at celestial body in the night sky and get an instant identification and coordinates in order to precisely pinpoint objects for a telescope or camera.
And of course, it wouldn't be an electronics trade show without some sort of iPod accessory. This one comes from Pelican, maker of indestructible camera cases for harsh environments. Personally, we like the idea of being able to take our pink iPod into a war zone, or rafting down the Colorado River with an indestructible Pelican case!
See you in March in Las Vegas at PMA 07.
