It's been nearly 10 years, but Macy's department stores will again offer a smattering of consumer electronics products during the holiday season.
The Cincinnati Business Courier is reporting that Federated Department Stores Inc., the parent company of Macy's, will have a limited selection of tech gadgets, dvd players and stereo equipment stocked in nearly every store for Christmas shoppers.
The announcement comes on the heals of even bigger changes at FDS, including plans to double the number of Macy's stores (to 800) in the United States and expanded the chain from coast-to-coast.
Macy's representatives say the store will limit its consumer electronics selection to gift items in an effort to boost holiday sales, and that it has no plans to offer larger, big ticket items such as big-screen televisions.
